Firenze the Centaur
Reasoning:
This card calls for you to stand up for your convictions and values, even
if (or especially if!) they go against the norm. You may meet resistance, and
might have to fight aggressively. But if it is worth fighting for, then fight
you must.
Firenze stood up against the horror that is Voldemort, and alongside Dumbledore,
putting him at odds with his herd and the entire code of centaur behavior. He
risked death at their hooves and suffered banishment from his home, but believes
he is making the right choice in standing with those fighting evil instead of
passively observing like the rest of the centaurs.
In a traditional tarot deck, this is the Seven (7) of Wands.
Notes
Centaurs (and horses
in general) are not the easiest creatures for me to draw. Nevertheless, Firenze
is very fun to draw and color, even though it took a lot of research and experimenting
before I got a palomino color I liked.
Firenze is white-blonde, young and handsome. If one draws him with long hair
and pointed ears like I prefer, this runs the risk of him inevitably being compared
to Legolas in the Lord of the Rings movies. I attempted to combat this here
by giving him slightly strange facial features and hair like a horses' mane.
We'll see if it works. :p
If you're wondering what's on his chest, it's that hoof-shaped bruise he acquires
from being beaten by his herd, before he is rescued by Hagrid. I'm actually
really pleased how the bruise turned out, haha.
