VIKTOR KRUM

Slouching, slope-shouldered and duck-footed, Viktor Krum is the athletic hero of a generation. Decidedly odd-looking, with a sharp profile like a hawk and bushy black eyebrows, Viktor is nonetheless surrounded by admirers. Similar to Harry Potter, Viktor has been thrust into stardom from an early age, and isn't all too happy about it. The most celebrated, youngest Quidditch player of his time, Viktor is also a skilled wizard, being chosen to participate in the Triwizard Tournament, representing Durmstrang school of Wizardry. Viktor strikes me as a sensitive person, who does not revel in his fame, and is quite possibly forced into much of it (think of the way Karkaroff dotes on him... it creeps me out). He is also given a bad rap, I feel, by many Hermione/Ron "shippers". I think he genuinely likes Hermione; besides being smart and pretty, Hermione is the one girl who doesn't value his celebrity status, and he knows that. Besides, Hermione deserves to be flattered a bit, and appreciated for more than just her correct transfiguration answers. I do think Ron and Hermione may end up together eventually, but in the meantime, I'd like to see her and Viktor have fun together. Besides, his accent is sooo cute! :) I have a soft-spot for him, and I hope he'll be around in the last book.
