WALDEN MacNAIR

Walden Macnair is a tall, strapping, black-mustached man who works for the Committee for the Disposal of Dangerous Creatures as an executioner. He was employed to execute Hagrid's hippogriff Buckbeak, but never got the chance to do his job that day as Buckbeak was rescued by Harry and Hermione. Macnair seemed extremely disappointed by this turn of events, and one does get the feeling that he enjoys his job much more than any decent person normally would. Fittingly enough, Macnair is a Death Eater. He is apparently close with Lucius Malfoy, and trusted enough by Voldemort to be sent as an envoy to the Giants (where he seems to have made more progress than Hagrid and Madam Maxime did). He was present at the battle at the Ministry of Magic during Harry Potter's 5th year, and sustained a jab in the eye by a wand. He was sent to Azkaban shortly thereafter.
