IGOR KARKAROFF
Igor
Karkaroff was head of Durmstrang school of Wizardry, located somewhere
very cold (its exact location is unknown, largely due to Karkaroff's
secrecy). Igor himself gave off the impression of being very cold;
the only student (or person, for that matter) he seemed warm towards
at all is his school's Triwizard and Quidditch champion, Viktor
Krum. Krum doesn't seem to be happy about this, but, truth be
told, Viktor rarely seems happy about much of anything. But I
digress....
Karkaroff was a rather paranoid and quick-to-accuse chap. When
Harry Potter's name was pulled from the Goblet of Fire, he became
infuriated with Dumbledore for allowing it to happen, and subsequently
gave Harry abysmal marks for his Triwizard tasks. However, this
behavior was not without it's probable cause...Igor was a Deatheater.
Not only that, he was a traitorous one; after he was caught, Igor
traded names of fellow Deatheaters for his own freedom, and hence
earned himself a rather poor reputation among Voldemort's supporters.
He became panicky during Harry's 4th year, as the Dark Marks burned
into he and Snape's forearms grew darker, signaling the returning
strength of Voldemort. He eventually fled to the north, no doubt
fearing punishment from his former comrades and master. His sins
caught up with him in the end, however, as his body was discovered
during Harry's 6th year.

"Karkaroff had a fruity, unctuous
voice; when he stepped into the light pouring from the front
doors of the castle they saw that he was tall and thin like
Dumbledore, but his white hair was short, and his goatee (finishing
in a small curl) did not entirely hide his rather weak chin.
When he reached Dumbledore, he shook hands with both of his
own.
'Dear old Hogwarts,' he said, looking up at the castle and smiling;
his teeth were rather yellow, and Harry noticed that his smile
did not extend to his eyes, which remained cold and shrewd."
