BARTY CROUCH Sr.

A sharp, thin, uptight man with a perfect part in his hair, the recently deceased Bartimus Crouch Sr. was once a fervent foe to dark wizards everywhere. Indeed, he was one of the harshest ministry officials ever, sometimes sinking to the same depths the Deatheaters themselves did. However, the straying of his own son to the dark side knocked him from grace, even though Crouch Sr. imprisoned and denounced him. He was reassigned to the Department of International Magical Cooperation, and Percy Weasley became his overeager assistant. Crouch speaks over two hundred languages and is a strict believer and follower of rules and regulation, for which Percy idolizes him. But rules and regulations are not the sole way to raise a family, and Barty Sr. eventually met his end from the son he had so neglected.

Weatherby and Barty Crouch at the World Cup The Madness of Mr. Crouch

"Mr. Crouch's face was taut with rage.
'Which of you did it?' he snapped, his sharp eyes darting between them. 'Which of you conjured the Dark Mark?'
'We didn't do that!' said Harry, gesturing up at the skull.....
'Do not lie, sir!' shouted Mr. Crouch. His wand was still pointed directly at Ron, and his eyes were popping - he looked slightly mad. 'You have been discovered at the scene of the crime!'"
